Case study of data acquisition on the cloud for steam flow totalizer

Aug,01,2025 << Return list

一、Background Requirements

Zhongsheng Environmental Project, steam flow totalizer data collection on the cloud. The traditional solution uses manual meter reading, which has high labor costs, cumbersome records, and often messy and vague data records. According to existing needs, data collection of the totalizer is realized , corresponding to the modbus RTU protocol meter. By installing a collection device and using 4G wireless transmission, the instrument data is collected and transmitted to the cloud platform.

二、Collection products

Product composition: 1. Power adapter (220VAC to 12VDC); 2. 4G module (collection and remote transmission body); 3. 4G suction cup antenna; The whole set of product pictures are as follows:

By default, the corresponding data collection of the product is reported (updated) to the data platform at a collection frequency of 5 minutes, and remote modification is supported at a collection frequency of 5 minutes or more.

Figure 4 Technical solution topology diagram

Through the 485 communication interface of the instrument, it is connected to the 4G intelligent acquisition terminal, and after acquisition and analysis, it is transmitted wirelessly to the background cloud server. On-site only needs to connect the 485 interface and power the acquisition equipment. After remote configuration by the technician (modbus RTU protocol, communication check: no check; communication baud rate: 9600; communication address: 001), the data is uploaded to the cloud platform.

3.2 Factors affecting installation implementation

1) The instrument being collected can be disassembled and wired (not affected by seals, etc.), and the instrument 485 interface is not occupied.

2)Signal impact: The environment where the meter is located, the underground distribution box (basement), the impact on the 4G signal (no signal, unable to transmit). For special sealed iron boxes, the antenna needs to be extended and pulled out, and an extended antenna can be installed.

3)Power supply: 220VAC AC or 12VDC DC must be available on site.
